Ford Freestyle Superpipe and Park

The opening of the “big” park, Mainline , is more exciting for many Squaw enthusiasts than a super sick powder day. The park boasts a state-of-the-art superpipe, an assortment of 24 to 52 foot boxes and rails, a variety of medium and big jumps, and one massive hip. Mainline Park is maintained so well that it remains perfectly film-worthy from the peak of the season to the slushy end. Mainline Park goes off especially in the spring as it is the only terrain park in Tahoe (and one of the only parks in North America) that remains open straight through Memorial Day.

The Superpipe

The hours of labor that go into building Squaw Valley's superpipe may seem endless to our park builders, but when it's all said and done, it's worth it. With Mainline Pocket above, the Palisades to the right, and Lake Tahoe below, this superpipe has arguably the most stunning backdrop of any superpipe in North America. Last season, Squaw Valley purchased the most technologically advanced pipe cutter, the Zaugg, to ensure that Mainline Park’s Ford Free-Style Superpipe is alaways in tip top condition. This high-tech machine was built to modernize park maintenance by reducing working time under the gnarliest weather conditions. The Ford Freestyle Superpipe boasts 18 ½ foot walls at an 18 degree pitch, and spans 550 feet in length.
