Sweet Sweet Silvy

This is the first year that I can remember a Ribbon Cutting-esque opening of Silverado. The email which went out on Thursday was an announcement that couldn't have been more welcome for those who didn't get to the hill on Friday (which was also an awesome day, btw). This was a perfect Silvy opening that happened to fall on a Saturday so everyone who wanted it got it. A classic Silvy experience has to include familiar faces and also enlightened looks from those who've just ventured down it for the first time. Snowballs, big smiles, and nickname shoutouts were the order of the day at the bottom. This is the most backcountry-like terrain at Squaw and it skied steep with deep pillows everywhere. Straightruns were fast and avy debris was skiable and minimal....
